Canon Carolynne Williams

Carolynne WilliamsThe Rev. Carolynne G. Williams is the Canon Associate for Pastoral and Elder Care. She is a native of Albany, Georgia, and a graduate of Spelman College with a degree in Music and a minor in Secondary Education. She also earned a Masters of Divinity from the Interdenominational Theological Center at Atlanta University with Anglican Studies at Candler School of Theology, Emory University. She held several positions within In-Flight Service at Delta Airlines, having retired after 31 years of service.

Carolynne was ordained deacon at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, the oldest African-American Episcopal parish in the state of Georgia, and ordained priest in 2000. She was the first African-American woman to go through the process for ordination in the Diocese of Atlanta.

Carolynne has previously served as Canon Associate for Pastoral Care and Canon for Pastoral Care and Elder Ministry. She is continuing to develop her innate abilities and gifts while ministering to the sick, those in crisis, the homebound, the addicted, and others in the church family.

She was elected to serve on the search committee representing the mid-Atlanta convocation to select nominees for the 10th Bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta.

She is married to Perry E. Williams, Sr. and is the mother of two adult children, Perry Jr. and Piper.
