Icons Of Grace: Women's Lenten Retreat 2018

Icons are vehicles through which we can see beyond or through an image to more deeply experience the holy. Our experiences can serve a similar purpose when reflected on together in community. Join the women of the Cathedral on the 2018 Lenten Retreat, March 2-4 at Kanuga in Hendersonville, North Carolina, as we use the stories of scripture, our own lives, poetry, images, a contemplative art offering, and silence to more deeply cull the graces God gifts us.

Creativity and Spirituality Book Group

Join us to explore our creativity using the book Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert (available at the Cathedral Book Store). We’ll meet on Wednesday mornings, September 6 – October 11, 10–11:30 a.m. in Room 120. In addition to exploring what the book illuminates for us, we’ll also use our time together to engage in a variety of spiritual and creative practices. If possible, plan on a $10 materials fee. Please sign up by September 1 by contacting Jeannie Mahood.

Quiet Morning Gathering

Whether you are a beginner or long-time practitioner, or simply curious about a new practice, we hope you will join us for a quiet morning of centering prayer. Centering prayer is a practice that helps us rest and be grounded in the presence of God. Led by Cathedral parishioners Will Traynor and Jan Wyatt, the morning will include an introduction to centering prayer, along with sessions of sitting and walking prayer. Coffee and light snacks will be available. Please RSVP to Cathy Zappa, czappa@stphilipscathedral.org or 404-365-1043.

Holy Monday Labyrinth Walk

Walk the outdoor labyrinth this Monday, April 10, from 7–8 p.m. as we remember the last words of Christ on the cross. Forgiveness can be difficult. It’s easy to hold onto grudges and painful issues. We all know the challenges of letting go. It’s tough yet we all want to love, to belong and to live our best. Walking the labyrinth can help us go inside and find support in something greater than ourselves, help us let go and return to love for self and others. There is no greater joy than living, sharing love and knowing that you are loved. A labyrinth orientation will be held from 6:30-7 p.m. If it is raining, we'll walk the labyrinth in Child Hall.
