The Cathedral of St. Philip Matching Gifts for Haiti Program

The Cathedral of St. Philip has chosen to allocate up to $25,000 of its Millennium Development Goal budget to support the work of its members who are involved in providing humanitarian aid to Haiti by supporting the aid and development organizations through which those members are working.

From January 27 until March 1, 2010, Members of the Cathedral may contribute a maximum of $5,000 of personal funds to an institution identified as an eligible recipient. These funds will be matched on a 1-for-1 basis, allowing for a maximum total match of $5,000.

Program Guidelines for Obtaining Matching Funds for Donations

Type of Match & Eligible Gift

• The Cathedral will match up to $5,000 of Member contributions.
  
• Gifts will be matched on a 1-for-1 basis. (For example, a contribution of $100 to an indentified organization will be matched with a $100 contribution.)
  
• The amount of each gift after deduction for benefit(s) received, must equal $25 or greater to be eligible for a match.
  
• Gifts of cash or marketable securities must be made from participants personal assets.
  
• A complete matching gift form with original signatures must be received by Canon Maxwell at the Cathedral before March 31, 2010.
  
• Matching contributions, in the aggregate, will be limited to the $25,000 MDG allocation.
  
• In instances where questions exist regarding eligibility, Canon Maxwell will determine whether the gift shall be matched.

Eligible Participants
Individuals recorded as “Members” in the Membership Register of the Cathedral.

• Episcopal Relief & Development
  
• Care International
  
• Eternal Hope in Haiti
  
• Global Health Action
  
• Habitat for Humanity
  
• Hospital Albert Schweitzer
  
• Other institutions added by Canon Maxwell, provided that such institutions must (1) be recognized as a tax-exempt, public charity by the Internal Revenue Service under section 501(c)(3), (2) already have operations in Haiti presently capable of providing humanitarian aid, and (3) be working directly with Members of the Cathedral.

Payment Schedule
All eligible and completed matching gifts forms will be paid on April 30, 2010. No matching payment will be made unless a properly completed matching gift form is received by Canon Maxwell at the Cathedral by March 31, 2010.

Ineligible Gifts

• Gifts that return benefits to the donor such as memberships or subscriptions.
  
• Pledges or promises to make a gift are not eligible for a match. Only actual gift payments made will be considered.
  
• Gifts to organizations outside of the United States.
